Privacy Policy

Last updated June 3, 2026

TL;DR: The information you give us is used to run the service, and we keep a small amount of anonymous usage data to understand how the site is used. We don't send promotional material, ever.

What we collect

Your mobile phone number is the only personal information we ask you to provide. See "What we collect for analytics" below for the device and usage data we capture automatically. We don't use third-party trackers, with one narrow exception for ad-click measurement described under "Advertising measurement" below.

How we use it

We use your phone number to send you marine weather forecast SMS messages and occasional service-related communications (like account or billing notices). Nothing else.

What we collect for analytics

We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data to understand how the site is used and to debug issues. These data include page views and button taps. We also record basic device characteristics — device class (mobile, tablet, or desktop), operating system, browser, screen and viewport size, language, timezone, and network type. We never store the raw user-agent string. These data are kept in our own database, except the ad-measurement events described under "Advertising measurement" below. We never sell analytics data.

Advertising measurement

When you arrive at this site from a Facebook or Instagram link (one of our ads, or an organic link such as a shared post), the link may contain a click identifier (such as "fbclid"). If you later sign up or subscribe, we may send that identifier back to the ad platform together with a basic event like "signed up" or "subscribed" and the browser's technical user-agent string (which Meta requires for these events) so we can tell which ads work. The platform (Meta) uses these events to report ad performance to us and to optimize who sees our future ads, under its own privacy policy. We never send your phone number, name, or message content to any ad platform. Users who signed up before June 3, 2026 are not included in ad measurement unless they accept the updated consent terms.

We never sell your data

Your mobile information — including your phone number and any consent records — will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We never sell, rent, or transfer this information.

Third-party services

We use Twilio to deliver SMS messages. Your phone number is transmitted to Twilio solely to send your forecasts. Twilio's privacy policy applies to that transmission. Forecast data is sourced from Environment and Climate Change Canada and contains no personal information.
