wxtxt delivers marine weather forecast SMS messages sourced from Environment and Climate Change Canada. By using the service you agree to these terms.

No guarantee of delivery

SMS delivery depends on your carrier and cellular coverage. We cannot guarantee that messages will reach you at all, or that they will reach you in time to be useful. Do not rely on wxtxt as your sole source of safety information on the water.

No guarantee of accuracy or timeliness

Forecasts are sourced as-is from Environment and Climate Change Canada and are not verified or modified by us. ECCC publishes on a fixed daily schedule, but in practice cycles are occasionally skipped, delayed, or amended after publication — wxtxt can only relay what ECCC publishes, when ECCC publishes it. We make no representations about the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness of any forecast for any purpose. Marine conditions can change rapidly and without warning.

Not a safety service

wxtxt is a convenience service. It is not a substitute for proper passage planning, monitoring VHF weather channels, or exercising your own judgement on the water. Always check current conditions from multiple sources before heading out.

Data source and attribution

Marine forecasts are produced by and sourced from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), and are available free of charge directly from ECCC at weather.gc.ca. What you pay for is the wxtxt delivery and alerting service — choosing your areas and being texted each forecast as it is issued — not the underlying forecast data, which remains free. wxtxt is an independent service; ECCC does not endorse, sponsor, or warrant wxtxt and is not responsible for it.

SMS / Text Message Program

By signing up you consent to receive marine weather forecast text messages from wxtxt at the mobile number you provide. Consent is not a condition of any purchase.

Program description. wxtxt sends Environment and Climate Change Canada marine weather forecasts for the regions you select.

Message frequency. Up to approximately 120 messages per month. Frequency varies with forecast updates and weather conditions.

Carrier and rates. Message and data rates may apply. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to opt out. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe immediately. You can also sign in and deactivate your feed.

Product and refunds

Service for wxtxt is sold in blocks of 30 continuous days. Each block begins when you purchase it and runs continuously to expiry. Blocks cannot be delayed to start at a later date. Feed activity can be paused and restarted at will within the 30-day block.

Once purchased, we do not pro-rate or refund blocks, including partially-used blocks when you opt out or deactivate your feed.

Service availability

We do our best to keep the service running but do not guarantee uptime or uninterrupted delivery. The service may be suspended, modified, or discontinued at any time.

Your responsibility

By enabling your feed, you acknowledge that you understand and accept these limitations. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those aboard your vessel.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
